Fairies…

These have been on my mind for a while, not a really good picture of them more like an idea of what they represent, a smoothed image of little fairies or angels or butterflies that bring peace and joy, that care for us humans and the world… it all started with a dream from one of the little ones in the house…

I started drawing them and finally came around to their shape, the shape that represents that peace feeling, that care…I think they’re here to protect our dreams and keep us safe. But don’t be fooled, they all love to play and some just can’t help to play little tricks on us, like that time Earth decided that the white rosebush should have one and only one bright pink rose among the wwhite roses.

I’m sure they can’t wait to meet you so here you have Earth, Wind and Water

They’re made from swiss cotton jersey and a traditional portuguese fulled wool fabric called burel, (burel was used till not long ago to make capes used by those who lived in the colder regions in Portugal and is now being used again not only in capes but in several other items). They’re filled with pure wool and they hair is made from soft mohair crocheted into a cap, the eyes are hand embroidered with cotton thread and the cheeks colored with beeswax.

All the fairies measure about 20 cm/ 8 inches top to bottom and side to side (including wings and crown) the body itself measures about 14 cm/5.5 in.

They will be on etsy tomorrow but if you want any of them now just comment bellow with the name of your choice and your e-mail and I’ll save her for you.

I will be framming mine to protect my new studio as I work (can’t wait to show you pictures when it’s done).
